IDEAS FOR ALCES TRIPS AND ACTIVITIES:
Basically we’ll do anything that qualifies as outdoor adventure, but there is a good chance we’ll have field guides in our backpacks.
- Hiking trips up mountains, or just about anywhere, scoping out birds and plants, or whatever, as we go…
- Camping and hiking trips to remote pristine, ecological communities, and unique natural areas… places where lightweights don't usually go!
- Canoeing trips during bird migration.
- Sea kayaking jaunts to islands to help out with monitoring or stewardship activities.
- Swamp busting to hunt for some herps, or to do spring “big night” surveys in some undercovered part of the state…
- X-country s
kiing or snowshoeing, i.d.’ing animal tracks and winter botany.
- Skydiving to photograph nature and land uses from the air. (Anybody?... Bueller?)
- Rock climbing to see geological outcrop polyploidy ferns... and other cool stuff.
- Photography trips to share and practice nature photo-taking techniques.
- Bird migration hotspot trips.
- Mountain biking exploration trips.
- Socializing Discussion Nights - Pick a green topic or “green book” for discussion, and organize to talk or argue about it over beers, coffee/tea, or potluck…
- Overnight rendezvous to practice wilderness survival and/or traditional skills and techniques.
- Taking exciting adventure trips to far-off destinations, and hanging out at night, drinking tasty beverages, chatting about the nature in the place…
